This is a non-quior 1976/1977 MCI JH16 with a JH114 transport. The record and playback heads were new from JR French in the early 2000's. The erase head was relapped. I pulled this machine out of work around 2008 so the new heads have little use. It has been in a smoke free temperature controlled studio unused for all of this time. The auto locator works for all functions other than recall, memory and return which is something I never used. There are also some LED's that are out. The machine was completely solid and modified throughout the years with things like super quiet fans, lowered fan speed for even more silence, relay and card replacements, new pinch roller, new bearings and a bunch of other things to keep it working great. I had it aligned around every 2 weeks when in heavy use. At one point it wasn't used for months and when it was turned on the alignment was near perfect. I grew up with this machine from the age of 19 so it's like family to me. I would love someone to actually use this and be inspired to make great recordings instead of buying it for parts. I started recording for bands that needed more production and track counts which is when I switched over to recording mostly in the box with some outboard. I also have the original manual and a crazy remote that hooks up to the transport if you need to be 50 feet away without using the locator. I wouldn't know the first thing about shipping this so I'm making it local pick up and this weighs roughly 600 lbs. You're welcome to check it out and if you purchase it you'll have to move it out. Feel free to ask anything and I'll do my best to help out with any questions.
