IMPERIAL RUSSIAN MEDAL"19 FEBRUARY 1861" ALEXANDER II
Medal "19 February 1861" - the medal of the Russian Empire,
which was the only one awarded Alexander II.
Medal "19 February 1861" was established by the decree of Alexander II
in April 1861, to mark the implementation of the agrarian reform. May 3, 1861 approved the design of the coin. The name of the coin directly related to the
release date of the Manifesto of the abolition of serfdom.
Only awarded this medal was the emperor himself (or, at least,
nothing is known about other rewardings). The Russian State archive preserved record, according to which May 17, 1861, Alexander II «to assume the gold
medal at the Alexander tape Highest grounded in the memory of the liberation of peasants from serfdom." For officials who have worked on the reform, it was established another medal - the medal
"For the works for the release of the peasants.".
